Prof. Charles Gasarasi holds a Ph.D. degree in Political Science (International Relations Major) from Tulane University (USA); an M.A. degree in Political Science (International Relations) and a B.A degree in Political Science with Education, both from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is currently a Research Professor at the Center for Conflict Management and a Political Science Professor at the School of Social, Political and Administrative Studies, University of Rwanda. His teaching and research affiliations, in various capacities, include: the University of Dar es Salaam, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA; Tulane University, USA; Oxford University, UK; University of Zimbabwe, York University, Canada; and the University of Rwanda. He has lectured in academic courses such as: Regional Integration, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, Comparative Political Thought, Imperialism and Liberation, Social Science Research Methods, Prevention of Genocide, Politics of Bureaucracy in Africa, Political Institutions and State-Society Relations, Policy and Strategy, and Fundamentals of Security. He was Chief Editor of “The African Review”, University of Dar es Salaam (1994-1997) and Director of the Center for Conflict Management, National University of Rwanda, (January 2003-March 2005). He has participated in a number of Election Observation/Monitoring missions including the Namibian Elections (1989); the South African First Democratic Elections, UN Observer (1994); Tanzania General Elections (1995: Morogoro Region), (2000: Ruvuma Region); Rwandan Elections ( 2003, 2008, 2010).
