Call for applications for PhD Scholarship in Epigenetics and Bioinformatics at the University of Rwanda and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Researchers from the University of Rwanda and the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign have been awarded an NIH-U01MH115485 research grant for working on transgenerational epigenomics of trauma and PTSD in Rwanda.

The goal of the proposed work is to characterize the transgenerational genomic impact of genocide exposure and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in women survivors of the Rwandan genocide and their offspring. PTSD is a common and debilitating mental disorder that has a profound public health impact.

We are recruiting one PhD candiate to pursue studies at the University of Rwanda. Interested candidates can apply for a four to five –year PhD in this program starting March, 2018. This is a sandwich program between the University of Rwanda and the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign/US.
