Dr Furaha Umutoni Alida

Dr Furaha Umutoni Alida is a Researcher at the Center for Conflict Management, College of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Rwanda. She holds a Ph.D in Peace and Development Studies from the University of Gothenburg, School of Global Studies. Her doctoral thesis is entitled “Being in Between? Exploring Identity Construction Among Rwandophone Congolese”. She also holds a Bachelor degree in Law and a Master degree in Human Rights. She is active in the field of women and children rights. Prior to CCM, Alida has worked with the Rwanda National Commission of Human rights, the Association HAGURUKA and RCN Justice & Démocratie, a Belgian organization based in Rwanda.

 

Areas of research interest: Identity, conflict, peace, security, human rights in the Great Lakes Region.
